The Thiruvananthapuram institution, training in a kuzhi kalari since 1956, with ICCR-recognised courses and daily morning performances visitors can watch.

Training

Established by Govindankutty Nair Gurukkal, son of C. V. Narayanan Nair, this was the first kalari to bring the northern system to south Kerala, and it now teaches both northern and southern styles. Courses begin twice a year, in June before the rains and in October at Vidyarambham.

It is recognised to host ICCR international scholarships and runs three-to-six-month short courses for foreign students alongside long-term training.

Treatment

Kalari chikitsa is handled by the Gurukkal himself, following the classical texts, with medicines manufactured at the kalari.

Visiting

A visitors' gallery seats twenty-five, and training can be watched between seven and eight most mornings. Photography needs prior permission, and special performances can be arranged on a fortnight's notice.
