A kuzhi kalari at East Hill with resident and day students, and a steady stream of theatre artists from France, Italy and Canada on three-to-six-month stays.
Set up in 1962 by Gopalan Gurukkal of the Kottakkal Kanaran line and now run by his son V. M. Vijayan Gurukkal, with the third generation teaching alongside. Around a hundred students train at present, from children to practitioners in their eighties.
