US-based teaching in the Malabar Kalarippayat Academy tradition under Gurukkal C. M. Sherif, aimed at bringing the art out of obscurity in America.
The teachers trained under Gurukkal C. M. Sherif of the Malabar Kalarippayat Academy in Kerala, a school recognised by the Kerala Sports Council and teaching northern, central and southern styles along with the healing practices. Their stated mission is bringing Kalarippayat out of obscurity in the United States, with training pitched at strength, balance, mobility and ageing well as much as martial skill.
