One of Kerala's most documented family kalaris, in Chavakkad since 1957 with roots in the Vettathunadu commander lineage, taking stay-based trainees for a month or more.
The Mudavangattil family served as commanders to the Vettath Raja, with documents from 1915 and 1925 recording their kalari at Niramaruthoor. The family moved to Chavakkad in the 1950s and established the present school in 1957 under Sankaranarayana Menon Gurukkal; his son Krishnadas Gurukkal now leads it, overseeing seventeen branches worldwide.
Residential trainees are accepted for stays of one to several months, training two hours in the morning and one in the evening, with foreign students usually taught one to one. Lodging is arranged in town or in homestays nearby.
The attached clinic runs a steady marma chikitsa and massage practice serving the local community, and the academy also teaches treatment to serious students.
